Barbers Pomade (Water Based) Review

Back again with another pomade review.. Today we will be looking at Barbers Pomade, a local water based pomade, which are formulated by barbers and produced by PT Cedefindo in Bekasi Indonesia; namely Barbers Pomade.

Packaging: This pomade comes in 2,8 oz (80g) black plastic flat jar. On the top we can see a bearded man logo styling executive contour and written in bold Barbers Pomade, it is also written in the inner red circle "water soluble, original formula, strong hold". On the side label it is written barbers pomade strong hold; while at the bottom label, it is written all the directions, expiry date and so on. A very simple yet detail labeling.

Scent: This pomade smells like condensed sweet creamy coconut biscuits, that is not so much of my liking. It is very overpowering and lasted all day. As for me, this is the downfall for this pomade.

Texture: This pomade have a very thick and sticky gel like texture and comes in yellowish gold color. Unlike any other gel pomade, this pomade is very sticky and somehow is like a cross breed of Chief Barbers Pomade and JS Sloane Heavy Weight Brilliantine. The reason I say this is because once you smear it in the hand, you can straight away see the stickiness slash fiber alike texture that I remember of JS Sloane, however this is not a fiber pomade or something like JS Sloane.

Application: As usual, I started my day as early as 6 AM in the morning, I applied 4 scoops of this pomade on semi damp hair. Application wise is somehow very tugging due to the stickiness of this pomade. You can definitely feel the grip and the strong hold of this pomade, Styling wise is a breeze with this pomade and i can achieve some height for my fringe and yet slick on my side. The picture below is taken right after I applied this pomade, the shine you see below is due to the damp hair while I was applying it and pretty much gone and harden up after an hour or two.

Performance: I started my day with a little outdoor activities for an hour or so and this pomade can be considered slower in term of hardening up for gel pomade, which I think is pretty good. However while I am back to the office and started my activities in air conditioned cool temperature, this pomade really harden up so bad. However, this is what I expect out of orthodox sticky strong gel pomade. The pomade lasted all day and I don't have to re-style or anything but once I reach home, I've tried to wet-comb and re-style. And as expected this pomade will loses its hold while you try to wet-comb it. Washing out this pomade is a breeze and yet another typical water soluble pomade that shall leave your hair feel dry after washing it out.

Overall: Barbers Pomade is one of the strongest holding gel pomade. A typical orthodox gel pomade that provides a strong hold and stickiness while you applying and styling with it and yet shall harden up through out the day. For a gel pomade, Barbers pomade performs very well and I should say reliable and predictable. However the only downfall of this pomade is the scent that is too sweet and condensed. If they ever change the scent, I will definitely pick up another jar as I like how it performs.
